The Force was with the Elevate Youth Group!
Everybody had so much fun!
Recently, our high school youth had the opportunity to try their hand at bowling. Once we arrived at the Copperfield Bowling Alley and secured our lanes, the games were on! Most of the students played for fun, though one student in particular wanted to try and out-bowl our DCE. Needless to say, our resident Jedi Master held his own against the forces of our tenacious teens.
There were an amazing amount of strikes that the youth bowled during our nearly three bowling games. Our DCE was surprised by the various angles from which the students were able to successfully bowl strikes. Try as he might, all he could do was consistently bowl spares by first knocking over nine of the pins and then knocking over the last remaining pin.
It was at that moment that our struggling DCE realized that he had it all wrong. He looked deep within himself and dwelled on the wise words of Master Yoda, “Try not. Do. Or do not. There is no try.” That was when he felt the bowling ball become an extension of himself as it began to roll down the lane. Suddenly, with a thunderous boom, all the pins were knocked over!
The youth celebrated together for their numerous great bowls and for the fantastic time we had together as we welcomed the addition of our new Confirmands into our high school youth program. We can’t wait to see what God will do in and through the lives of our high school students over the weeks and months to come!
