Thank you Youth Volunteers for your help!
With the help of the youth the food packing took a record breaking 1 hour to complete!
This past Tuesday, our youth had the opportunity to serve alongside our food pantry volunteers. Did you know our volunteers pack 200 bags of canned/dry goods for our Saturday distributions every month?
This project requires a lot! Many tables need to be set up, and crates to set additional food under the tables (the food cannot touch the floors); massive amounts of food are hauled out, and bags are packed and hauled into storage. It is heavy work. Once finished packing, there is still lots of work to be done. Boxes need to be broken down and then loaded up for recycling, trash must be taken out, floors must be swept, and tables must be put away along with those wooden crates!
The volunteers usually spend about three hours packing these bags. However, with the help of our youth, we did it in a record 1 hour!!! Fifteen kids from both of our youth groups worked together with the help of Mrs. Hixon and Mrs. Cliff and the Direction of the Brown family and our beloved Martha Mushala to make quick work of this project.
Afterwards we served them lunch and Martha led us in prayer praising God for our youth and their willing hearts! After dinner, both youth groups stayed for a few hours for fellowship and games. We are so blessed to have these young members shining their light as they work together to Engage, Enrich, and Encourage!
