Last week, Epiphany’s own Vicar Michael Copp traveled to Omaha, Nebraska, as one of just fifty church leaders from across the country invited to help shape a new national initiative for young adult ministry called HODOS. The name comes from an ancient Greek word meaning “the Way,” the very name the first Christians called themselves, and the movement carries that same spirit: helping young adults between the ages of eighteen and twenty-nine know who they are in Christ, where they belong, and how God can use them.

For four days, Vicar Copp worshiped, learned, and worked alongside faithful Lutheran leaders from across the nation, all united around a single question: how does the church reach this generation today? Those years of young adulthood are among the most formative of a person’s life, and too often, they are also when people drift away from the church. HODOS exists to help change that.

Michael returned home energized and full of hope for how God is at work among young adults and how churches like Epiphany can better engage, encourage, and enrich this generation.
