DAY LILIES/LWML
The Day lilies are part of the International LWML. Mission projects are selected annually, and money is collected in “Mite Boxes”. Linda Brown is chairman of Day Lilies.
DAY LILIES/LUTHERAN WORLD RELIEF
The Day Lilies sponsor Lutheran World Relief projects several times a year. Currently they are collecting soap, combs, towels, etc. for Health Kits to be distributed around the world especially where there are disasters.
THRIVENT
Thrivent, an investment company, offers the opportunity for their members to request $500 per year for worthy projects at church or in the community. Formerly Thrivent for Lutherans has many ELC members. Some of the projects sponsored in the past are Lutheran World Relief collections, Youth group fundraisers, School fundraisers, Food Pantry, Vacation Bible School, etc. Linda Brown or Margaret Goodson can give more details.
REQUIRED MINIMUM DISTRIBUTIONS (RMD)
Members 70-1/2 who are required to take distributions from their IRA or 401K plans may designate part or all of their distribution to Epiphany LC TAX FREE. Quite a few members are taking advantage of this. To initiate this, individuals should consult with the firm that holds their retirement plan to give them instructions or their tax advisor. (Margaret can answer general questions.)
STOCK
Epiphany has a brokerage account with TD Ameritrade for the purpose of receiving stock donations. Our account number is 494-709751. Contact Margaret Goodson or Lisa Leanard (treasurer) to alert us so that stock can be sold as soon as received.
TEXAS CHURCH EXTENSION FUND
Members may invest in Texas Church Extension Fund which holds the mortgage on our buildings. Besides giving us a low rate of interest, we receive a 1% rebate on our loan each year because our members have investments of more than 100% of the loan amount. Members receive a higher rate of interest on their investments and also help Epiphany get the rebate. The rebate for 2019 was $19,000. Margaret Goodson is the CEF representative for Epiphany.
