The Promise Play: A Journey Through Faith & Music
Welcome to the archival recording of “The Promise,” an original play performed at Epiphany Lutheran Church & School. Written by our Senior Pastor, Jeffrey Muchow , this heartfelt production explores the overarching theme of God’s unwavering faithfulness through the lens of early Contemporary Christian Music (CCM).
The Story: The play follows three girls—Aida, Terreney, and Mallory—who are staying at their grandparents’ charming, slightly cluttered home. While exploring the attic, they uncover an old, beautifully carved chest and accidentally summon Vinylus, a groovy “hippie-angel” tasked with preserving Christian music from the Jesus Movement up until the year 2000. Through timeless vinyl records and honest conversations, Vinylus helps the girls confront their struggles with loss, self-worth, and scientific doubt. Ultimately, they rediscover a faith rooted in the ultimate promise of Christ Jesus.
A special thank you to the talented cast of actresses, the dedicated musicians, the sound and tech crews, the meal prep team, and everyone who made this production possible!
Soli Deo Gloria!
