The Thread
Follow your gift all the way through.
There has always been a thread running from your gift to its outcome. From the check you wrote, or the Saturday you spent on a ladder, to the kid who had a classroom to learn in. This page traces it so you can follow it with your own eyes.
Following the dollar
Same budget. Sorted by what it does.
Our budget is organized by board, with numbered accounts underneath. It is the correct way to run a church, but it can be challenging to explain how your gifts of time and money directly impact the work we do. So we started looking for the mission within the purpose so that we can surface it as an explanation that’s easy for everyone to understand.
Tap a board or a mission to follow its thread.
We’re not changing what we do. We’re changing how we talk about what we do.

Where Your Gift Goes: Mortgage
Two months ago it was the lights. Last month it was insurance, the bill that does its best work when nothing happens at all. This month we are putting the biggest number yet in front of you. This one is the building itself. How much does Epiphany pay on its mortgage each month? A About […]
Where Your Gift Goes: Insurance

Where Your Gift Goes: Electricity
During the Red Letter Challenge this spring, Giving was one of the five things Jesus asked of His followers that we spent time on together. When the six weeks ended, several of you came to us with a good question: what does it actually take to run this place? That is a fair thing to […]

The Invisible Thread Between Your Gift & What It Does
Since August we’ve run three short pieces in this newsletter under the heading “Where Your Gift Goes.” One on electricity, one on insurance, one on the mortgage. Each was a quick quiz: guess the number, click to see the answer. We expected a handful of clicks. Instead, all three landed among the most-read pages on […]
