This summer, we’re kicking off something special, and maybe a little unconventional. Meet Evangeline, our new Sunday School mascot. She’s a plush donkey with a name that playfully nods to “evangelism” and a personality as big as her ears.

Evangeline was created with one purpose: to help our kids live out their faith beyond the classroom. Inspired by projects like Flat Stanley and Knuffle Bunny, Evangeline will spend her summer traveling from home to home, classroom to classroom, experiencing life through the eyes of our children. Each week, a student will take her home and show her what sharing Jesus’ love looks like in real life. That might mean reading a Bible story, helping a neighbor, or simply spreading kindness in small, meaningful ways.

Families are encouraged to snap photos and videos of Evangeline’s adventures and share them on our church Facebook page, or send them in to be included in a growing video journal (special thanks to the brave souls helping with editing). These moments aren’t about perfection; they’re about connection.

And after summer? Don’t worry. Evangeline will remain a part of our church family, becoming a familiar and fun face in Sunday School and reappearing during holidays like Easter and Christmas with special seasonal messages.

She may be soft and cuddly, but Evangeline carries a powerful reminder: faith is meant to be lived, shared, and joyfully experienced.
