Epiphany’s Stephen Ministry needs three more people to begin a new training class in January 2027.

Someone at Epiphany is going to have a hard year in 2027. It might be a diagnosis, a funeral, a lost job, or a marriage that ends. We don’t know who, but we know what helps is a fellow member who shows up every week, listens without judging, and prays with them.

Those people are Stephen Ministers, and it could be you.

Stephen Ministers aren’t counselors or pastors. They are ordinary members of our church who receive training and ongoing support, then walk alongside one person through a difficult season, usually meeting once a week for about an hour. They don’t fix anyone’s problems. They listen, they care, and they trust God to do the healing.

Epiphany’s Stephen Ministers have now cared for more than 30 people in our congregation and community through grief, divorce, job loss, and medical crises. One care receiver admitted, “I didn’t think I needed a Stephen Minister at first.” Having someone to talk to each week didn’t make the problems disappear, but it made them manageable.

The people who serve are changed, too. As one of our own Stephen Ministers put it, “Being a Stephen Minister has been one of the most meaningful things I’ve ever done in my life.”

Why we’re asking you now

A new class can’t begin until there are enough people to fill it, and right now we are three people short. You don’t need a special background or the right words. If you are a good listener, you care about people, and you’re willing to learn, you already have what it takes. The training will deepen your faith and sharpen how you listen to the people in your own life, long before you meet your first care receiver.

“Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”  Galatians 6:2

Will you be one of the three? A phone call to ask questions commits you to nothing. Call or text any of us today:
