Be Yourself at Epiphany Youth

A safe and inclusive place to be in community with one another and to simply be themselves.

All too often, teens think that they have to pretend to be someone that they aren't to impress their peers.
Within our Epiphany youth groups (Impact for middle school students and Elevate for high school students),
that isn't something that they will ever have to worry about.
All youth were created uniquely by God, and there is always a place for them here.

Although our time spent together can be fun, only having fun isn't the primary goal of why we gather together.
We gather to strengthen our faith in hopes of going more in-depth with our walk with Jesus.

Being youth ministry at Epiphany Lutheran Church & School helps youth to develop their social skills further as they are preparing to go out into the world to help spread the redeeming message of God's love to the world around us.

Youth are successful in our youth ministry programs when they attend our youth functions with the mindset that they can learn about God, grow in their faith, and still have fun with their friends all at the same time.
The ultimate goal is to be able to get them to a place where they are ready to own their faith for themselves.
That way, college and life beyond will go well for them, as they continue to seek out God's will for their lives.

Our youth's lives are like a skyscraper. Do we want their lives to be built on a firm and solid foundation so that they will be set up for success, no matter where God leads them in life?
If so, then being actively plugged in and engaged with our youth group(s) is a great way to do that!

Middle School Program

"Impact" is our middle school youth ministry program at Epiphany Lutheran. All students who are currently enrolled in grades 6th-8th are welcome to join us (as are their friends)! Impact meets in the Youth Room from 1-3pm at Epiphany on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month. During our gatherings, we spend time in fellowship with one another, get to eat some great food, spend time worshipping God together, as well as spending time diving into God’s Word.

High School Program

"Elevate" is our high school youth ministry program at Epiphany. All students who are currently enrolled in grades 9th-12th (and their friends) are welcome to join us! Elevate meets on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month from 6-8pm in the Youth Room at Epiphany. During our gatherings, we connect with one another in fellowship, get to enjoy great meals, spend time glorifying God through our worship, and we spend time diving deep into God’s Word (through the lens of small groups). Elevate is your youth group, it’s a safe place for you to come and be who God created you to be.

Making New Connections

Confirmation @ Epiphany

Here at Epiphany, we begin our Confirmation process in middle school. The Confirmation year usually starts off with a parent meeting where the families will be given more information about the process.

The weeks that follow will contain the Confirmation classes themselves. Each grade level (6th-8th) splits up into their own class. This process typically takes up the three years of middle school (6th-8th Grade) as we walk them through different aspects of the Bible, Luther’s Small Catechism, and then teaching them how both are intertwined with one another and how they can apply them to their lives.

It’s crucial for the youth to be confirmed in the church as it helps them to understand better what is taking place during the communion aspect of our worship services. Confirmation is also that point that the confirmed youth can genuinely appreciate how God works through the means of grace (namely Baptism and the Lord’s Supper).

Meet Josh McNamara

Epiphany's Famous Youth Director

Josh grew up in the faith and has been a life-long Lutheran. Josh attended high school in Richmond, Texas and later went on to attend Concordia University Texas in Austin. Josh graduated from Concordia in December of 2016 with a bachelor's degree in Religious Education and completed his DCE internship in Pensacola after 2017. He is happy to be back in Texas. He is excited about what the future holds for the youth ministry programs here at Epiphany Lutheran Church!

Some of his interests include movies, music, video games, building relationships with others, spending time at the beach, and visiting Disney theme parks when he gets the chance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it cost money to be part of the youth group?
No, it does not cost any money to be part of the youth group. However, we do take trips, host youth events/functions, and have other related opportunities for faith development that take place outside of our standard Impact/Elevate gathering times. These various outings do cost money. The significant trips like mission trips and the National Youth Gathering are supplemented by our fundraising efforts throughout the year.

Does my youth need to be a Lutheran to attend youth functions at/through Epiphany?
Nope! Youth and their friends are always welcome to attend our youth functions regardless of what their faith understanding and background might be.

Can my youth receive service hours for school through your youth ministry programs?
Yes, they can! Whether it's helping to serve those in need on a mission trip, assisting with our Vacation Bible School program, or any other service-based activity that we do, more likely than not, we can help credit it to them for any required service hours that they may need.
